Itinerary Day by Day

Day1 Arrive at Guilin - Elephant Trunk Hill - East-West Street - Xiaoyao Tower

Upon arrival in Guilin, you will see your guide waiting for you at the airport arrival hall with a welcome sign with your name on it. Then a comfortable private car will take you to your hotel in the city center.
After checking in and resting, you will start your Guilin tour to visit the symbol of Guilin, the Elephant Trunk Hill. This is a naturally formed hill that looks like a giant elephant drinking the water of the Li River with its long trunk. The Samantabhadra Pagoda on the back adds to the romance of this place: the Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, one of the four great bodhisattvas of Chinese Buddhism, enshrined in the pagoda, usually appears riding an elephant.
Then we head to East-West Street, a 1,400-year-old street that experienced its heyday during the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1911 AD).It has become the only remaining Ming and Qing street heritage in Guilin, and the historical buildings in the area have been restored in 2016. In addition to the general tour, we will visit Xiaoyao Tower, which was originally built as a restaurant in the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) and is also a place frequented by literati and poets who gathered here to enjoy the surrounding scenery, write poems, or drink to commemorate special moments. Afterwards, we will drive you back to your hotel.

Dinner suggestion

It is about a 10-minute walk from Dongxi Street to Youyixuan Rice Noodle Restaurant, where you can enjoy an authentic and fresh bowl of Guilin's most representative specialty rice noodles for about 15 RMB (2 USD). Founded in 1932, this brand can be said to be the oldest brand, and its secret noodle recipe has been passed down for five generations.

Day 2 Longji Rice Terraces-Zhuang Village with Breakfast

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then head to Longsheng to admire the spectacular Longji Rice Terraces. It takes about two hours to get from Guilin to Longsheng.
Upon arrival, your guide will lead you to hike to the best viewing point to enjoy the stunning views of the terraces. There are many steps and it may take some physical effort, but the incredible views are worth all your efforts. Along the way you will see the vast terraces on the hillside from the foot to the top. The terraced landscape is most beautiful during the harvest season in late spring and late autumn, when the pond fields are filled with clear water for irrigation. The endless terraced landscape, coupled with the farmers cultivating the land and the native sheds in the distance, make this a world-famous photogenic wonder.
With us, you will also visit the villages where the wooden stilt houses (a unique architecture of local ethnic minorities) are located. You can stroll through the Zhuang villages and learn about their unique ethnic culture. For example, perhaps you may notice that some women wear a strange head scarf that actually looks like a bull's horn, symbolizing their belief in the Bull God, a god who descended from the sky and sacrificed himself for the farmers. At the end of the tour, we will send you back to your Guilin hotel.

Day 3 Li River Cruise - Village Tour with Breakfast and Lunch

No trip to Guilin is complete without a Li River cruise. This morning, you will be transferred to the pier to board your cruise. The typical karst scenery on both sides of the river is like a Chinese landscape painting, and its ethereal beauty is such that one of its perspectives, the Huangbu Beach, is printed on the reverse side of Chinese banknotes. The shallow beach is the most beautiful reflection of the entire length of the Li River.

A Li River cruise usually takes about 4 hours. Since you disembark in Yangshuo at 14:00, lunch is served on board today.

Once you arrive at your destination, you will enjoy a relaxing tour of the countryside and visit the homes of local villagers to experience the lifestyle of Chinese farmers.

There are two options for going to the countryside: by bicycle or by private car. We recommend that you take a bicycle to explore the idyllic scenery, passing through the green meadows, lovely karst hills, and turquoise waters. But if you are not a cyclist, a car tour will be equally fascinating, although less rewarding.

During your tour of the countryside, visit a typical farmer's family in a local village. Since the visit may end late, you will then return to the center of Yangshuo by bicycle or car.

For a special evening, explore Yangshuo's oldest street, West Street. Despite its modern features, such as bars, the street still exudes a charm from the past. It's dinner time, so try beer fish, a local specialty loved all over China, at one of the restaurants.

 Dinner Tips:

For dinner, we recommend trying Yangshuo's signature dish, beer fish. Beer fish is not a type of fish, but a cooking method that involves the use of beer. This dish has been around for more than 40 years and is said to have been first introduced after a chef accidentally added beer to fish and found it surprisingly delicious. Since then, the dish has gradually become popular. Yangshuo beer fish is made by frying scaleless carp from the Li River and then slow-cooking it with Liquan beer, tomatoes and fresh chilies. Dashifu Jinjiang Beer Fish (West Street Main Branch) is very popular; if you are interested, you can try it for about 80 RMB (11 USD) per person.

Day4: Bear Village-Airport-Airport drop-off-Home with Breakfast

In the morning, your guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you back to Guilin. Along the way, you will visit a little-known ancient village with a history of more than 1,000 years, called Xiong Village. You will stroll along the cobblestone alleys and gain an in-depth understanding of the villagers' unspoiled traditional lifestyle. You can see that the quaint houses still retain their original style, with wooden doors and windows and mottled walls. Staying there, you will feel as if you have returned hundreds of years ago.

Now, your 4-day Guilin trip has come to an end and we will send you to the airport or high-speed rail station to see you off. We hope you had a great time with us!
