4 Days Zhangjiajie Exciting Adventure with Glass Bridge and Tianmen Mountain

Zhangjiajie is located in the northwest of Hunan Province in China and is famous for its unique natural scenery and cultural heritage. It is the first national forest park in China and the world's largest natural heritage site recognized by UNESCO.
Zhangjiajie is famous for its spectacular sandstone peaks and forest landforms, which are known as "natural landscape paintings". There are more than 3,000 peaks, valleys, streams, and rich subtropical plant landscapes.

Itinerary Day by Day

Day 1 Zhangjiajie Arrival Pick-up in Zhangjiajie & Hotel Check-in

Welcome to Zhangjiajie! Upon arrival, you will see our local guide waiting for you in the arrival hall of the airport or train station with a sign with your name on it. Afterwards, your guide and driver will accompany you in a comfortable private vehicle and take you directly to your booked non-smoking hotel in the city center of Wulingyuan. Your guide will assist you with the check-in procedures. After checking in, you can arrange the rest of your time as you like and explore this charming Chinese city. Zhangjiajie is conveniently connected by both flights and trains: Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport: Only a 10-minute drive from the city center, it connects domestically to major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, and also has direct international flights to Bangkok and Osaka. Zhangjiajie Railway Station: Located in the city center, it connects to Changsha (about 4.5 hours), Yichang (about 4.5 hours), Xi'an (about 15 hours), etc.

Day 2: Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon – Huanglong Cave (Breakfast, Lunch)

After breakfast, start your exciting day. First, take a 40-minute drive to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, where you will experience both adventure and beauty. The tour begins by stepping onto the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, an engineering marvel that is the longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge in the world, 430 meters long and suspended 400 meters above the bottom of the canyon. Through the transparent glass under your feet, you can overlook the magnificent canyon scenery, which is as stunning as walking in the air. After crossing the glass bridge, walk to the observation deck to enjoy the panoramic views of the area.
Then, you can choose to enter the valley floor on foot or by elevator, slide, ropeway and other facilities (please inform the guide of your preference, these facilities may require additional fees). In the lush canyon, explore the Rainbow Square, Momo Cave and Shenquan Lake. You can stroll under the cool shade of the forest, take a boat to leisurely sail on the emerald green lake, and admire the bright flowers and plants around you. The canyon tour trail is gentle and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, suitable for a leisurely stroll.
After lunch, head to Huanglong Cave, about 20 kilometers away, a geological wonder highly praised by UNESCO experts and known as one of the most beautiful karst caves in the world. The unique natural landscape in the cave complements the complex underground water system. One of the highlights is the boat tour of the water cave. Slowly moving forward in the quiet underground waterway, you will be surrounded by the gurgling water and the crystal stalactites reflected on the water surface, as if entering a mysterious world. After getting off the boat, continue to climb the steps along the trail to the famous Dragon Palace area, where the spectacular stalactites form a dreamlike scene. The entire cave tour (including the boat experience) takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.
(Warm Tips: There are many steps and uphill and downhill sections in Huanglong Cave. It is recommended that tourists with a certain amount of physical strength go there.)

Day 3: Yuanjiajie – Tianzi Mountain (Breakfast, Lunch)

Start with breakfast in the morning and head to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to visit the core scenic spots: Ten-mile Gallery, Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain.
Your adventure begins at the Ten-mile Gallery. Here, a sightseeing train takes you through the magnificent landscape, admiring the unique rock formations such as "The Welcoming Guests of the Longevity Star", "The Old Man Collecting Herbs" and "The Three Sisters Peak" along the way. This leisurely journey takes you through a valley full of stories.
You will take the train into the gallery and then walk back, immersing yourself in this picturesque scenery.
Next, head to Yuanjiajie and take the world's fastest and highest outdoor elevator, the Bailong Elevator, which takes you from the valley floor to the top of the mountain in just 1 and a half minutes, overlooking the magnificent natural landscape. In Yuanjiajie, you will immerse yourself in the natural beauty of this place, which is famous for its towering sandstone pillars, often surrounded by mist, like a fairyland. It was also the inspiration for the floating "Hallelujah Mountain" in the movie "Avatar". At the Mihun Terrace, you can overlook hundreds of unique stone peaks, and the scenery is breathtaking. Finally, explore the famous No. 1 Bridge in the World, a natural stone bridge connecting two peaks with a bridge deck of about 5 meters wide, showing the geological wonders of nature. After visiting Yuanjiajie, take the scenic area eco-friendly bus to Tianzi Mountain. At Helong Park, you can climb to one of the best viewing platforms to get a close look at the majestic Yubi Peak and find the romantic "Fairy Offering Flowers" among the peaks. If you have enough energy, you can further explore the Warrior Taming Horse Terrace, where dozens of unique peaks stand, one of which is shaped like a horse with flying mane, and the rocks next to it resemble warriors holding reins.

Day 4: Tianmen Mountain National Park – Depart Zhangjiajie with Breakfast

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and start an exciting journey to Tianmen Mountain, a must-see attraction in Zhangjiajie. Tianmen Mountain is famous for its record-breaking single-track circular mountain cableway and the breathtaking natural wonder, Tianmen Cave.
You will first take the Tianmen Mountain Cableway from downtown Zhangjiajie all the way up to the top of the mountain, which is over 1,400 meters above sea level. This approximately 7,455-meter-long cableway is currently the longest single-track cableway in the world, and you can enjoy the magnificent view of the winding Tongtian Avenue (Tiantong Avenue) from the transparent cableway cabin.
The first part of the journey is along the West Tour Route (Finding the Fairyland), which will take you through the mountaintop area. Along the way, you will be surrounded by the wonders of nature and thrilling experiences.
The Guigu Cliff Plank Road will test your adventurous spirit. At the end of the west route is Tianmen Mountain Temple, a historic religious site built in the Tang Dynasty on the top of a mountain.
After visiting the temple, you can choose to continue exploring the east route (Qingtian Yutai), climbing up to Yuhu Peak, passing through the Nantianmen of Tianmen Cave, Xianyuan, Yuhu Peak and Happy Forest.
Alternatively, you can take the Forest Sightseeing Cableway (an additional charge of 25 yuan per person for one way) to Yunmeng Xianding, the best viewing point of Tianmen Mountain, and then walk down the mountain to Tianmen Fanshui (the upper station of the cross-mountain escalator).
Next, you will take the cross-mountain escalator from the top of the mountain to Tianmen Cave to see this majestic natural cave with your own eyes. Formed by natural compression and collapse, Tianmen Cave is 131.5 meters high, 57 meters wide and 60 meters deep, making it an extremely rare geological wonder. After visiting Tianmen Cave, you will challenge the Ladder to Heaven, which is a steep 999-step ladder (ladder to heaven) and feel the thrill and shock of crossing the cliff.
