Day 2 Chengdu-Leshan Giant Buddha-Emei Mountain with breakfast

 and dinner

For many people, the first thing to do when they come to Chengdu is to see the cute giant pandas. There are currently about 1,500 giant pandas in the world, most of which live in Sichuan, China. Today, after an early breakfast, we set off to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Waking up early is crucial if we want to see those early-rising creatures eating bamboo, climbing trees, and playing with each other. After lunch, we will head to Leshan to visit the Leshan Giant Buddha, the world's largest Maitreya Buddha statue. This UNESCO-honored Buddha statue is 71 meters (233 feet) tall and carved into a red sandstone cliff. Despite more than a thousand years of history and weathering, its elegant posture can still be felt. Then we will drive to Mount Emei and check in to a local hotel upon arrival.

Day 3 Mount Emei - Chengdu with breakfast

Today you will visit Mount Emei. As one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China, Mount Emei has a peak of 3,099 meters (10,167 feet) and features magnificent scenery, rich plants, precious trees, curious monkeys, and Buddhist temples. Take the cable car from the parking lot and walk for 10-20 minutes. We will first admire the 1,600-year-old Wannian Temple, one of the oldest temples on the mountain. Return to the original route and continue driving for 20 minutes to Baoguo Temple. The temple is shaded by ancient pines and cypresses, and contains many Buddhist treasures, attracting many Buddhist culture enthusiasts. End the day's tour and return to Chengdu.

Day 4 Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong-Jiuzhaigou, with breakfast

After breakfast, you will board the high-speed train to Jiuzhaigou. Our Jiuzhaigou local guide and driver will pick you up and take you to Huanglong. The rest of the day will be spent in Huanglong National Scenic Area. With snow-capped mountains, dense forests, waterfalls, diverse wildlife, and karst landforms, this paradise deserves to be designated as a World Heritage Site. It is especially famous for the thousands of colorful ponds on the 3.6-kilometer-long (2.2-mile-long) golden terraced travertine, which looks like a Chinese dragon winding through the forest, hence the name Huanglong Valley. You will also visit the Huanglong Temple ruins before heading to Jiuzhaigou for a two-night stay.

Tips:
Since the altitude of Huanglong National Scenic Area ranges from 1,700 to 5,588 meters (5,577 to 18,333 feet) and the altitude of Jiuzhaigou Valley ranges from
1,900 to 3,500 meters (6,233 to 11,482 feet), you may experience altitude sickness and unpredictable and drastic weather changes. To prevent altitude sickness, avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol, and remember to eat plenty of vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables. Also, remember to conserve your energy during hiking and stay alert along steep trails. To combat the sun’s UV rays, consider bringing sunscreen, a sun hat, and sunglasses; in case of rain or low temperatures, bring an umbrella or raincoat and a warm coat.

Day 5 Jiuzhaigou National Park, with breakfast

You will have a full day to visit Jiuzhaigou National Park, another UNESCO natural heritage site. Known as a paradise on earth, the scenic area has unparalleled turquoise lakes and waterfalls reflecting ancient trees, dense forests and ridges of snow-capped mountains. You can even see Tibetan and Qiang villages nestled in the mountains. The most beautiful lake you will see is the Wucai Lake. In addition, two of China's most magnificent travertine waterfalls, Nuorilang Waterfall and Pearl Beach Waterfall, as well as the rippling turquoise waters of Chang Lake, will amaze you!

As for lunch, there is only one restaurant in the park (the cafeteria), but if you don’t want to queue or don’t like the food, we recommend you have a hearty breakfast at the hotel this morning and bring some fast food to replenish your energy at noon.
